Quake is actually the best game made by id software. And it's the best game of 3d shoot 'em up ever made !!!

The story : And again, the rumors of a new "doom" - game from id were out. And the title then, as now ; "Quake" ! In the beginning of 1996, people starting asking when "Quake" actually was to be released. Everyone wanted a beta or a shareware version of the game. In march/april id released a test version with three first deathmatch-levels for bug reporting and keeping the public warm. Two month later the shareware was out. The game got good critics, but people wanted to get the whole thing pretty soon, they had been waiting long enough. And those who had Internet access, could actually get a beta of the game before everyone else. One of the beta testers had "accidently" put the beta of the whole game out. id defended themselves by saying that those who loaded the beta down, made a big mistake; because they were going to change the lightning effects on some levels. Big deal. Meanwhile, people went to the stores to buy 3DRealms' Doom wanna-be, "Duke 3D". There was yet to be released a game that was totally 3D, as everything except walls and structure were REAL 3D in D3D, so I rather call Duke nukem 3 . Fall 1996, Quake was finally released. And the crowd was as happy as ever. Four episodes of solo-action, one episode of pure deathmatch, one intro level and one outro level meant money in the bank for id. Or did it ... The game was made in a way that made it easy to copy illeagally. For each game bought, about five copies were copied illegeally (my own calaculation). The funny thing about Quake, isthat the plot is not entirely set. It is very abstract. The way I look at it, there is a world of Quake and many monsters featured in it, kill them. Many were dissapointed that the music for Quake played off a cd. They wanted midi tunes rather than cd-music. In my opinion, some of the tracks on the cd as very good, but I'd rather i'd rather been midi, like doom and duke nukem 3d. Both of these games have a brilliant midi music.
